CIWM AWARD: BEST RESOURCES PROJECT BY FACILITIES MANAGEMENT

Cawleys was short listed in the Chartered Institute of Waste Management (CIWM) Award category for "Best Resources Project by Facilities Management" and now we're delighted to announce that our client, Trinity Leeds won the award.

The award recognises the results which the 'Make Your Mark' recycling and waste reduction and community outreach campaign has achieved at the new Leeds shopping centre.

Delivered by the Cawleys and its partner company, Veris Strategies, the 'Make Your Mark' campaign has helped Trinity Leeds achieve outstanding resource management results in less than a year.

New staff engagement initiatives, such as monthly rewards for the best performing retail tenants, and new recycling schemes including reclassifying all resources to make it easier to understand recycling categories, has led to an 83 per cent overall recycling rate and a zero waste to landfill achievement.

Local communities have also benefited from the 'Make Your Mark' campaign where a coffee grounds collection service has redistributed the coffee waste to public gardens and parks as a soil conditioner, providing a practical and greener recycling alternative.

Anna Cawley, Head of Customer Services at Cawleys, said, “We are honoured to have won this CIWM award, with Veris Strategies, for our partnership with Trinity Leeds. It's been a privilege working alongside the facilities management team to ensure that Trinity Leeds is now a leader in green retail sustainability practices.

Creating new, inventive ways to reduce the amount of waste being produced in the corporate sector is something that Cawleys and Veris Strategies pride themselves on. We are delighted to have been able to develop a system that Trinity Leeds can use to environmentally benefit retailers, shoppers and the local community.”
