Case Study

Waste Management for Engine Manufacturer

Our fantastic partnership with this engine manufacturer highlights the variety of hazardous and non-hazardous services we offer, demonstrating how Cawleys tailored and innovative solutions support their long-term sustainability vision and goals.

Working together for over 15 years, this customer designs and manufactures combustion engines and hybrid engines for racing vehicles, road legal derivatives of those cars, and their own electric car range.

A responsive, cost effective and personalised waste solution

Providing a complete solution we take responsibility for the collection, transportation, recycling and disposal of all waste, from general to complex hazardous waste. Uniquely we have based a member of our team onsite – this highly experienced waste operative further increases the responsiveness and cost effectiveness of our solutions

Working closely with our expert Hazardous Waste Services team we also provide the following services:

  • Liquid Waste – We regularly collect hazardous liquid waste mixes such as oil, fuel and water used in engine testing processes, repurposing and finding second life uses where possible.

  • Lithium Batteries – Due to the high risk and confidential nature of the batteries used for testing and development by our client, our dedicated Lithium Battery Recycling Solutions division provide a full-service solution by collecting, storing, packing, recycling and safe disposal.

  • Electrical components – Our onsite waste operative works with various departments to break down a range of electrical and mechanical components, separating high value materials such as copper and titanium to maximise their revenue.

Having an onsite waste operative has also allowed us to implement a new process for dealing with confidential paper waste - historically all paper generated on site was sent for secure incineration to avoid potential loss of classified information and protect intellectual property.

Now all paper is sorted and screened before being recycled – ensuring only confidential waste paper requires secure destruction – reducing costs and environmental impact.

A partnership based on results and trust

At Cawleys we are determined to help our clients maximise their recycling rates and reduce their carbon footprint – since working with this customer their recycling rate has increased to 95%!

Creating a fantastic working relationship based on trust has been crucial – our client knows we will handle all their waste confidentially and safely - protecting their world class design innovations.

We are proud of the fantastic relationship we have built and our ability to keep pace with such an innovative, fast-moving customer – regularly evaluating and adapting our processes to suit their needs - we deliver a cost effective, responsive and personalised service.
