Caring Cawleys match fund charity fund raising evening

Cawleys, local waste management company, have recently match funded a live band charity evening at Harlington Village Hall, Bedfordshire, raising an impressive £4,182 for local hospice, Keech Hospice Care.

Keech Hospice Care, based in Luton, provides hospice care for adults and children with life-limiting and terminal illnesses.

The evening was supported by popular local band, Gerry & The Attricks, who played 60’s and 70’s live music throughout the evening. A brilliant auction was held, with items all donated by Bedfordshire businesses, including a cream tea for two at Flitwick Manor; an original Sky Sports football, signed by Jeff Stelling and eight of the Soccer Saturday team; and four tickets to watch The Bedford Blues play in a home game. There was also a supper of fish and chips or alternative chicken and vegetarian options.

Phil and Jenny Eccles, organisers of the event, commented:

“Jenny and I were very encouraged by the positive comments from almost everyone who was there…people said it was a brilliant, well organized evening with great food and a fantastic band. In fact, many of them have asked us to let them know as soon as we have a date fixed for the next event before the tickets officially go out on sale so that they can beat the rush!”

Cawleys, a third-generation family business, employing 250 staff, is celebrating 70 years in business next year and is looking to mark this anniversary with a number of special events in the community.

Jon Cawley, Cawleys Managing Director, said:

“We are delighted to help Keech Hospice Care in their fundraising activities. We also love supporting our local sports clubs and teams, as sport reflects our company values of teamwork, strategy and determination.

“The Cawleys team and I are very excited to celebrate our 70-year anniversary next year and we look forward to revealing our celebratory local community events in due course!”
