Wild Canvas Camping team up with Cawleys as their waste partner

With summer nights rapidly approaching outdoor camping is in full force, Wild Canvas Camping returns in 2022. Based in the riverside meadows of the magnificent Turvey House Estate in Bedfordshire the company operates in a spacious setting, with easy access, music, on-site food, drink and much more! The camping fields are set in the beautiful riverside meadows, bordered by historic parkland.

Being based in the natural environment, Wild Canvas Camping are extremely conscious of their environmental impact. Partnering up with local recycling and resource management business, Cawleys, has allowed them to boost their eco-credentials.

Wild Canvas Camping will be working with Cawleys having single feeder bins situated around the campsite collecting all their waste. Once collected they will be taken to the Cawleys recycling depot where the waste streams are sorted and separated using the Cawleys Materials Recycling Facility. This ensures that all waste from Wild Canvas is diverted from landfill and is recycled with residual waste going for waste to energy locally.

Commenting on the partnership, Ilke Durmay from Wild Canvas Camping said: “Minimising our impact on the planet is extremely important to us. Our company ethos is centred around low footprint/ minimum impact ethos and working in partnership with Cawleys allows us to further support these values.”

Wild Canvas Camping work hard to adhere to their zero-impact policy using 100% degradable food packaging, a strict no single-use plastic policy and ensuring they use local contractors for infrastructure and facilities to keep their scope 3 carbon emissions as low as possible.

Commenting on the partnership, Anna Cawley, Communications and Strategy Director said: “As an independent local business, we are extremely passionate about supporting the community around us. We are delighted to be helping a fellow local organisation improve its eco-credentials and build on its strong ethos towards sustainability.”
