How to Store Food Without Plastic
Many people have been concerned with the amount of plastic that is being produced and thrown away. UK supermarkets produce almost 1 million tonnes of plastic packaging each year which they believe keeps their fruit and vegetables fresher for long!
Currently a truckload of plastic enters our oceans where it becomes a hazard for marine wildlife and it has been found in everything from seafood to drinking water to beer and sea salt. YUCK!
Although Supermarkets aren’t there yet, here are our Top Tips for you to reduce the Amount of Plastic that Food is Stored in at Home. [Remember to Recycle to Plastic Appropriately]

Switch to Glass Storage Pots/Jars for pastas etc.
Switch to rectangular glass Pyrex container with a lid for food in the fridge
Switch to thick glass jars for the freezer.
Use Ice Cube Trays instead of buying Ice from the supermarket
Switch to stainless steel lunchboxes for food on the go.
Silicone collapsible storage for the fridge or freezer as can with stand extreme temperatures.
Silicone suction lids to fit your bowels and pot that you already own.
DIY reusable food wrap - you can make your own reusable food wrap by melting grated beeswax on sheets of fabric.
What about all your fruits and vegetables?
aren't they usually stored in plastic bags? Here are some no-plastic storage tips:
Store artichokes, carrots, and celery in bowls of cold water in the fridge.
Store avocados, strawberries, figs, and any other berries in a paper bag.
Store cauliflower, herbs, and cherries in closed glass containers in the fridge.
Store broccoli rabe, corn, snap peas, spinach, and cut melon in open glass containers in the fridge.
Store cabbage, eggplant, and spring onions right in the fridge crisper.
