Plant for the planet

There are lots of good reasons to chose Cawleys as your recycling and waste resource management partner, but now there’s one more….tree planting.

Cawleys have teamed up with the Forest of Marston Vale to launch a new tree planting initiative.

We’re now officially in a climate emergency and new trees are particularly effective in combatting carbon emissions as they absorb more carbon as they grow. this ensures both cleaner air and a reduction in greenhouse gasses. Trees also reduce flooding, provide sustainable raw materials, and are our best hope in combatting the climate crisis.

Cawleys have long been a sustainability focused business and are committed to doing all they can to help the environment and give back to the local community. Cawleys scheme will plant trees at the Forest of Marston Vale which is working towards 30% tree cover, the equivalent of planting another 5 million trees.

Commenting on the new scheme, Anna Cawley, Director of Customer Services, said: “Our tree planting scheme gives local organisations a little extra help in doing their bit for the environment. At Cawleys we are passionate about helping our clients improve their environmental credentials and recycling is a big part of this. If we can help these organisations off-set carbon emissions at the same time, it’s a win-win situation.”

Robina Ballard-Davis, Fundraising Officer at Marston Vale added: “We’re delighted to have Cawleys support in growing the Forest of Marston Vale and helping us towards our target of planting another 5 million trees across our 61 square miles.

In February 2007 we planted 6,000 trees in new community woodlands in the Forest of Marston Vale. As these woodlands grow, they’ll help combat climate change. By 2057 the trees planted by Cawleys will have grown to lock up nearly 1,000 tonnes of CO2e (carbon dioxide equivalent) from the atmosphere. Trees are our best hope for the environment to combat the climate crisis, but they also make life better for local people and wildlife in so many ways. As a Corporate Friend of the Forest, Cawleys will be making a significant local difference that will also have an important global impact.”
