Our Partnership with bio-bean

The world drinks 2.5 billion cups of coffee every day, creating 18 million tonnes of spent coffee grounds every year. Typically, those spent coffee grounds are sent to landfill or anaerobic digestion.

We're proud to be working with innovative company bio-bean which have worked on a sustainable solution for this waste. Instead of waste coffee grounds sitting in landfill, bio-bean transforms them into sustainable bio-product solutions.

bio-bean manufacture many products from these spent coffee grounds such as Inficaf, flavouring extracts, Coffee Logs and biomass pellets. Recycling grounds through bio-bean’s processes, and using bio-bean’s products can help businesses reach their environmental targets as well as reduce carbon footprint.

We were fortunate enough to have a tour of the bio-bean facility last week, offering an insightful tour into bio-bean's process and the steps taken to turn spent coffee grounds into bio-bean's extensive product range.

We've been working with bio-bean for a long time, collecting used coffee grounds from our clients and delivering to bio-bean and we're proud to be able to work with great companies like this who offer our customers innovative ways to reduce their carbon footprint and help the environment.

By choosing to segregate coffee grounds your company could make real savings on waste management costs.  Coffee grounds are wet and heavy and will add significantly to the weight of your general waste. Choosing to divert heavy wet coffee grounds from general waste bins and instead opt for a separate collection will save money on waste collection costs, reduce contamination and help the planet.

Speak to Cawleys about how your business could save money and help the environment by recycling coffee cups and grounds today.
