Sustainability Insights 3 : #FoodWasteActionWeek

The latest issue in our Sustainability Insights Series is written by Anna Cawley and tackles the very timely issue of Food Waste.

This week is Food Waste Action Week. The first of its kind, this awareness week has been introduced by the leading global sustainability charity WRAP (Waste & Resources Action Programme) to shine the spotlight on the impact of wasted food on people, business, and the planet.

Approximately one third of food produced in the world is wasted, and wasted food contributes 8–10% of total man-made greenhouse gas emissions. With this in mind it isn't surprising that food waste is a serious issue we need to tackle. Here we take a look at the issue in depth and analyse what can be done by businesses in our region.
